Ultimate Alliance today announced the Ultimate Wrestling Championships will be held at the Sands Expo & Convention Center on July 10-11 during the 4th Annual UFC International Fight Week™ in Las Vegas. The tournament will feature eight different divisions of wrestlers, including both youth male and female divisions across various age groups. An estimated 1,200 elite wrestlers and athletes from across the nation will take part in the tournament to showcase their talents and abilities against the best-of-the-best and to crown “Ultimate Wrestlers” for 2015.
“The Ultimate Alliance organization is extremely excited to be participating in UFC International Fight Week,” Ultimate Alliance Chief Operations Officer Bryan Lindsey said. “Our elite athletes from across the United States had an experience of a lifetime last year and they look forward to another great tournament and the opportunity to meet their favorite UFC stars.”
The Ultimate Wrestling Championship is a unique tournament featuring both team and individual competitions. Entering its second year, Ultimate Alliance looks to build upon the success of last year’s Ultimate Wrestling Championship by expanding the number of competitors across all age divisions participating in the tournament and drawing more attendees from UFC International Fight Week.
“The tournament will be one of the eight signature competitions during the week, featuring eight different combat and martial art sports, starring 4,000 amateur athletes from over 30 countries around the world,” UFC Vice President of Federation Relationships & Corporate Social Responsibility Lou Lauria said.
Dual Team meets will be conducted from Thursday, July 9 to Friday, July 10. On Saturday, July 11, The Last Man Standing Tournament will feature various types of individual events in specific age groups. Awards will be presented to the top three teams in each division and all Saturday first and second place-winners will also receive awards. In the high school division, Ultimate Alliance will recognize the top three boys and top girl wrestler in the tournament. Each winner will be crowned the “Ultimate Wrestlers” for 2015 and receive a custom championship belt.
UFC International Fight Week features a UFC Fan Expo, the 2015 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, a UFC Reebok experience, the Ulti-man 5k, UFC Gym® Fitness Challenge and various martial arts tournaments, as well as fan events at Fremont Street Experience. UFC International Fight Week will be capped off with two highly anticipated events in UFC® 189: ALDO vs. MCGREGOR on Saturday, July 11 and The Ultimate Fighter® Finale on Sunday, July 12.
