Vadim Nemkov full Bellator 257 post-fight press conference
Vadim Nemkov and Phil Davis had a hard fought fight in their first meeting which resulted in Nemkov earning a spilt decision victory. In their second fight on Friday at Bellator 257, it was yet again another hard fight.
On Friday at Bellator 257, Nemkov and Davis fought again in the main event, which was a quarterfinal matchup in the Bellator light heavyweight grand prix. Nemkov, the current light heavyweight champion, once again edged Davis to advance in the tournament while making his first title defense.
Nemkov (13-2) had the advantage earlier in the fight, but as time went on Davis (22-6) started to fight his rhythm. One surprise during the fight was that Nemkov secured three takedowns, while Davis, who was a national champion wrestler at Penn State, came up unsuccessful on all his attempts.
After 25 minutes of action, all three judges gave Nemkov the edge on the scorecards, with all three scoring the fight 48-47. Nemkov will now fight the winner of former UFC fighters Yoel Romero and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, who meet in the final quarterfinal matchup of the grand prix.
Following his victory, Nemkov spoke to MyMMANews and other media outlets about his fight with Davis and his upcoming fight in the grand prix. You watch his full post-fight press conference in the video above.
