Vanessa Demopoulos credits pole dancing to her UFC 270 victory
Vanessa Demopoulos had an unforgettable night at UFC 270.
In the opening round of her fight against Silvana Gomez Juarez, Demopoulos got rocked with a huge punch that sent her to the canvas. As Juarez came in for the finish, Demopoulous was able to unitize her jiu jitsu and ended up getting ahold of Juarez’s arm and lock in an arm bar.
Juarez would tab out to give Demopoulos her first career UFC victory. Not only was getting her first win an incredible experience, but the way she came back from getting hit by the punch won her over many fans and the UFC awarded her a performance of the night bonus.
As for how she was able to pull off the great comeback win, Demeopoulos credits her old job as an exotic dancer. She told MyMMANews that her years of building up core strength from pole dancing has given her an incredible “stripper guard” and makes her dangerous off her back.
Following her UFC 270 win, Demopoulos broke down her performance with MyMMANews and she also discussed her post-fight interview with Joe Rogan and what’s next for her in 2022. You can watch her full interview in the video above.
