VIDEO: Conor McGregor’s final spar session before UFC 246
Conor McGregor made his successful return to the UFC Octagon earlier this year at UFC 246 in January when he defeated former lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds of the first round. It was McGregor’s first fight since suffering a loss to the reigning lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October of 2018.
McGregor’s road back to the UFC saw him fight his third career welterweight bout when he returned against Cerrone and now his media company, The Mac Life has released video footage from his training sessions. On Wednesday a video was published taking fans behind the scenes of McGregor’s training, including a spar session and his workouts in the lead up to his fight against return.
A main focus of McGregor’s training was his cardio heading into the fight against Cerrone and he credits his dedication to preparation as a big key to his success in his last fight. McGregor spoke to The Mac Life about putting it all together and staying consistent with his training.

“Now I’m trying to hold it, right? I just want to go now. I’m in for a fight now. This is the part where you got to hold it and bottle it and then release it in there [the fight]. I’m ready to fight now. I want to fight, I’ve been training so long for it. Usually when you’re cutting weight you don’t really feel that, you got the weight cut first so this is a little new to me. I don’t got the weight cut to worry about so I’m just eager to go. They’re trying to pull me back and I’m just raring to go, soon, a couple days out”
It’s an unique in-depth look for those who follow Conor McGregor and his career to be able to get a look at what goes on behind the scenes of the former featherweight and lightweight champion’s training camp. McGregor is 2-1 in the welterweight division but UFC President Dana White has said that he could get a rematch with Nurmagomedov later this year inside the stacked lightweight division.
