VIDEO: Watch Laura Sanko Win Her Pro MMA Debut
Today’s UFC fans may recognize Laura Sanko as a member of the UFC broadcast team, really solidifying herself as an elite member of the team while working one Dana White’s Contender Series.
Most people do not realize that Sanko was once a professional mixed martial artist herself. In the video above, you can watch Sanko’s first and only pro fight. The bout against Cassie Robb took place at Invicta FC 4, January 5th, 2013 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Sanko won that fight against Robb by way of rear-naked choke in the second round.
She was later scheduled for a second pro MMA fight against Livia von Plettenberg, but that bout was cancelled after the future UFC commentator would learn that she was pregnant.
Prior to turning pro, Sanko held an amateur MMA record of 4-1.
Now 40-years-old, Sanko began her work under the Zuffa banner in 2016 and in 2021 began doing color commentary for Dana White’s Contender Series. Her work has been televised on FOX Sports and ESPN. She is also a licensed MMA judge.
