Mickey Gall

What could be next for Mickey Gall?

What’s next for Mickey Gall ?

Mickey Gall’s UFC 273 showing did not go quite as he had planned.

At the event, the New Jersey native was matched with Canadian-born Mike Malott. By the end of it, Gall was face-down on the canvas in just under four minutes of the first round.

For Gall, the knockout loss leaves the question of what might be next for the young contender now that he is on a two-fight losing skid.

As a professional, Gall has collected seven wins while suffering five defeats. The submission ace holds six of those victories by way of submission, including locking in a rear-naked choke against Jordan Williams just last year.

Under the UFC banner, Gall holds victories over solid opposition such as Sage Northcutt and George Sullivan. He has come up short however against much more experienced fighters such as Diego Sanchez, Mike Perry, and Alex Morono.

Not only does Gall have a lot of potential star power, but he has shown that he can hang in there with some of the best in the division. Yet when it comes down to it he just can’t quite do enough to secure the victories needed to move up the ranks.

At this stage of his career, I would like to see Gall face someone of the likes of UFC newcomer AJ Fletcher or maybe the winner of Preston Parsons vs. Louis Cosce, which takes place on April 23rd.

Not only would one of these bouts be a good match-up for Gall but he would likely be the betting favorite heading into them. For the opposition, they get an opportunity to make a name for themselves against someone with a relatively big name.

Again, at this stage in his career, I really like these matchups for Gall.

I hope to see him get back to his winning ways and get a streak going as he enters his athletic prime.
