Zac Pauga discusses his upcoming fight at UFC Vegas 75
Zac Pauga is very familiar with the UFC Apex and he loves everything about it. So much so, that he feels that the Apex pretty much serves as home field advantage to him.
Pauga had plenty of fights from the building prior to his official UFC debut as he was a member of Team Peña on the UFC’s hit show The Ultimate Fighter.
On his season of the show, Pauga made it all the way to the finals, before losing to Mohammed Usman to finish runner up on the show.
Despite not being crowned as The Ultimate Fighter, Pauga received a UFC contract and in February, he made his UFC debut and once again, that fight was in the UFC Apex.
Ahead of his debut against Jordan Wright, Pauga had some nerves due to getting knocked out in his last fight, but once the fight got going, he settled in and made the best of his first UFC opportunity.
Pauga dominated his matchup with Wright and earned a unanimous decision win to now bring his professional record to 6-1.
One big difference between his first UFC win and loss to Usman was the weight class.
For The Ultimate Fighter, Pauga fought at heavyweight, but he was very small for the weight class.
Despite his success at heavyweight, Pauga knows he’s a light heavyweight and he made sure to make that move for his debut and he will do so once again for his next fight.
At UFC Vegas 75, on June 17, Pauga will take on Modestas Bukauskas and he’s planning on earning another win from inside of the UFC Apex.
For Pauga, he’s not shying away from what his plans are in the fight. Pauga will look grappling and he knows the smaller cage inside of the Apex will give him an advantage of working in his gameplan.
Prior to UFC Vegas 75, Pauga spoke with MyMMANews about his matchup with Bukauskas, his love for the UFC Apex and football career prior to fighting as Pauga played Division 1 football at Colorado State and spent some time in the NFL with the Houston Texans.
