247 Fighting Championships – New MMA Promotion Coming To Pittsburgh
Yesterday, MyMMANews was able to confirm with Gregory Sirb, Executive Director, Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission, that a new mixed martial arts promotion is coming to the Pittsburgh area.
Sirb told MyMMANews that Ryan Middleton will hold his first event on March 23 at the Printscape Arena in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
Middleton will launch 247 Fighting Championships with plans to host both amateur and professional MMA bouts. He states that he has previous experience in working with one of the top promotions in the state Pinnacle Fighting Championships, but is now venturing off on his own.
“247 has multiple meanings,” Middelton said. “I had an MMA blog I did for fun called Octagon 24/7. Also, because of my faith background – 2 Timothy 4:7 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. It’s a reminder to me that everything I do in life, I am accountable for my actions. I am accountable when nobody is looking.”
No fights have officially been booked but Middleton tells MyMMANews that his first main event has verbally been agreed to and will pair Khama Worthy up against TJ Brown.
Worthy (12-6) is coming off a second round, rear-naked choke win at Pinnacle FC 18 in December 2018. Brown, (10-6) is coming off a loss to Cody Carrillo at C3 Fights in February.
“We want to build up the regional MMA scene, creating new opportunities for the amazing athletes and gyms that make up the Pittsburgh MMA community and we are fully committed to giving the fans some amazing events,” said Middleton.
More fights to be announced in the near future.
