WWE star Stephanie Vaquer – “I’m a big fan of the UFC, and I hope one day we can do something together”
Chilean professional wrestler Stephanie Vaquer signed to the WWE and made her debut on RAW earlier this year, making waves ever since she hit the ring. The former one-time NXT Women’s Champion and one-time NXT Women’s North American Champion, is the first and only woman to hold both titles simultaneously and successfully defend both titles on the same night.
But could the pro wrestler be planning a move to mixed martial arts?
“I love the UFC,” Vaquer said in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. “I’ve been training in Mexico at the UFC Performance Center, and I have a really good friend there. I’m a big fan of the UFC, and I hope one day we can do something together. I know it’s a different discipline from pro wrestling, but we are both fighters. My friend Ignacio Bahamondes is famous in Chile, and he’s also my best friend. In both fighting and wrestling, he understands me, the sport, and the discipline. That’s why I hope one day we can do something together.”
Stephanie Vaquer made her first main roster appearance on the Raw after WrestleMania 41, facing Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky in a match that ended in a no contest after interference from Giulia and Roxanne Perez.
At Evolution on July 13, Vaquer won the 20-woman battle royal for a women’s world championship match at Clash in Paris, though the match was ultimately cancelled due to the Women’s World Championship being vacated.
