Aidan James ‘proud’ to represent Wales at Brave 13
After a long and victorious amateur career, Welsh Aidan James made his professional debut with yet another big win and he will look to take this form on to his Brave Combat Federation debut. The Featherweight takes on Tommy Martin at Brave 13: Europe Evolution and will become the first Welshman to fight for Brave, something he relishes in what is also his first international fight.
“I’m very proud to be the first Welsh fighter at Brave. I hope to represent my country well on the international stage. My teammate Brett Johns was in a similar position with the UFC, and he became the first Welshman to fight for them at the SSE Arena, the same venue for Brave 13”, says James.
When asked about his upcoming opponent, Aidan James is all compliments and says Martin’s amateur career will also help on what will be the Irishman professional debut.
“Tommy is a good fighter, well-rounded and coming from a great team. I’m sure he will be well prepared. Like me, he had a long amateur career. Even though this is his professional debut he’ll come in with lots of experience as well as me”, comments James.
Finally, Aidan knows that Welsh fans will tune in to Brave 13 as the promotion makes its Europe debut and has a message for everyone involved with MMA in Wales.
“I plan to do my nation proud, so for all Welsh fans tuning in expect fireworks. Much like the Irish, we are a small, but proud nation, with a lot of heart and I know me and Tommy Martin will put on a great show”.
Brave 13: Euro Evolution will be held at The SSE Arena, in Belfast. The main event will be a rematch for the Bantamweight title as current champion Stephen Loman tries to go 2-0 against challenger Frans Mlambo. The co-main event is set for a Catchweight of 73 kg between former UFC fighter Norman Parke and Myles Price.
Northern Ireland will become the ninth country to host a Brave Combat Federation, after Bahrain, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Jordan, and Indonesia.
