After battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, AJ Siscoe continues to fight
Less than two years ago, 24-year old AJ Siscoe was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma — formerly known as Hodgkin’s disease — is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system.
In Hodgkin’s lymphoma, cells in the lymphatic system grow abnormally and may spread beyond the lymphatic system. As Hodgkin’s lymphoma progresses, it compromises your body’s ability to fight infection.
Siscoe already had 12 amateur mixed martial arts fights to his credit along with two professional bouts when he was diagnosed and although doctors told him he would never fight again, here we are.
After six rounds of chemotherapy and being told that he had a 90 percent chance of not making it through the regimen, Siscoe is now walking, living proof that anything is possible. Now at age 26, Siscoe is Cancer Free.
Next week, December 2, Siscoe takes on Chris Reed at Shamrock FC: 279 in St. Louis, Missouri. I spoke with Siscoe earlier today to gain a deeper sense of what this past two years has been like.
LISTEN BELOW:
Siscoe has one Shamrock FC pro bout and one Bellator MMA pro bout on his record. In both instances Siscoe came up short but on December 2 he sets out to make things right.
