Alexa Grasso looking for one more main event fight before taking on Valentina Shevchenko

UFC women’s flyweight contender Alexa Grasso is looking for one more main event fight before taking on the division’s champion, Valentina Shevchenko.

Grasso defeated Viviane Araujo in the main event of UFC Vegas 62 for the biggest win of her MMA career to date. Since moving up to flyweight, Grasso has now won four straight fights, which gives her the second-longest win streak in the division behind the champ Shevchenko. Naturally, fans and media have suggested that this be the next fight since Grasso is on a nice streak and Shevchenko is always looking for fresh contenders. However, if it’s up to Grasso, she would have one more fight before she gets the chance to fight for the belt.

Speaking to the media following UFC Vegas 62, Grasso suggested one more matchup for a title shot, pointing out a potential bout between herself and the winner of UFC 280’s Manon Fiorot vs. Katlyn Chookagian.

“I wish I can have another main event with one of the other girls – maybe the winner (of Katlyn Chookagian vs. Manon Fiorot), No. 2, the ones that are at the top. I would like to test myself again 25 minutes before that (title fight). But if I have to go for the belt, I will do it,” Grasso said (h/t MMAjunkie.com).

It will be interesting to see who the UFC matches up Grasso with next, since Shevchenko doesn’t have a clear opponent lined up, meaning there could be that title fight available. It’s possible Taila Santos could get a rematch for the belt after nearing taking the champ’s crown back at UFC 275 in June, but it’s also possible the UFC could just give Grasso the title shot instead. With Chookagian vs. Fiorot taking place soon, we’ll likely find out the next title contender very soon.

Who do you want to see Alexa Grasso fight next?
