Alexander Gustafsson vs Ovince Saint Preux added to UFC 282
Former UFC light heavyweight title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Ovince Saint Preux will meet in the UFC’s final PPV event of 2022. MMA Junkie was first to report that a fight between Gustafsson and Saint Preux will be added to the December PPV event on December 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The last time Alexander Gustafsson competed was in July of this year when he suffered a first-round loss to Nikita Krylov, which was in his return to light heavyweight after making a brief one fight appearance in the heavyweight division. Gustafsson is currently on a four-fight skid, and at 35-years old having previously battled injuries, may be nearing the end of his very memorable career.
Having fought for the light heavyweight title three times in his career, Alexander Gustafsson is among the most respected fighters in the division’s history. There’s no word if retirement is anywhere near for him, but there’s no doubt he’d like to end his skid and find himself back in the win column.
Ovince Saint Preux is also another respected veteran and also like Gustafsson has competed for the division title in the past. He most recently ended a two fight skid when he defeated Shogun Rua at UFC 274 earlier this year. With 28 wins in his professional career, Saint Preux has secured a finish in 20 of those wins.
With 12 knockouts and 8 submissions to his credit, Ovince Saint Preux is most known for his ability to lock in the rare Von Flue submission choke, which he has done four times in his 8 submission victories. Both fighters are known for their longevity and success in the light heavyweight division, but as they continue to age, this could be one of the final matchups in their incredible respective careers.
