Alexander Hernandez confident he beat Thiago Moises: ‘Convince me I didn’t win’

Alexander Hernandez doesn’t believe he lost on Saturday night to Thiago Moises.

On the prelims of the card, Hernandez was looking to extend his winning streak to two when he battled Moises. It was a very intriguing matchup with the winner likely to get a ranked opponent next time out. In the lead-up to the fight, Hernandez was a sizeable favorite with many thinking he would be able to outstrike the Brazilian. However, that didn’t happen as the fight stayed on the feet but it was Moises who outstruck Hernandez to win a decision.

Although to many, the decision was clear, when Bruce Buffer was announcing the winner, Hernandez had his hand in the air thinking he won. However, it was Moises who got the nod and after the decision was read, Hernandez and Marc Montoya checked with Buffer to make sure he read the right winner.

Now, after some time settled, Alexander Hernandez took to Instagram to further his stance that he won.

“Silence the commentary, watch this fight, and convince me I didn’t win 2 1/2 of 3 rounds. It’s extremely difficult to rationalize and agree with the outcome, but it is the outcome. Three more fights to come this year. Onward,” Hernandez wrote.

Alexander Hernandez is now 12-4 as a pro but is just 2-3 in his last five. He has now lost to Moises by decision and suffered TKO losses to Drew Dober and Donald Cerrone. He is 4-3 inside the Octagon with wins over Beneil Dariush, Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Francisco Trinaldo, and Chris Gruetzemacher.

Following the loss to Moises, Hernandez will have to go back to the drawing board. It’s likely he will get another step back in competition similar to when he faced Gruetzemacher. However, the goal for Hernandez is to fight three more times in 2021 and erase this loss from memory by the end of it.
