Prior to the loss, Romanov was a perfect 5-0 in the UFC with stoppage wins over Chase Sherman, Jared Vanderaa, Marcos Rogerio de Lima, and Roque Martinez with his other win coming by decision against Juan Espino. The 32-year-old is currently ranked 13th at heavyweight.
