UFC 289 will feature a women’s bantamweight championship fight in the main event between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana.
The matchup may not jump out to fans, but it has the possibility of being a fun matchup as Nunes is the GOAT of women’s MMA and Aldana will look to be the fourth Mexican UFC champion this year.

Breakdown
Nunes is the GOAT. What else is there to say with her?
Her only recent stumble was against Julianna Peña and she came back and won their rematch in her typical dominate fashion.
Meanwhile, Aldana is coming off back-to-back win by way of a finish and her last three wins have all come by way of a knockout.
She hasn’t fared well against popular names as Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington hold wins over her recently and in her early UFC career, Katlyn Chookagian picked up a win over the Mexican.
Aldana is known for her boxing and her best way to pull off the upset will be to box, stick and move. Avoiding the clinch and all grappling aspects is also a must for Aldana.

Both ladies are 35-years-old. Aldana will be an inch or two taller, but Nunes has a half inch reach advantage.
Can’t get much closer than that.

They all love Nunes as a big favorite.

Prediction
Nunes gets the win, but Aldana shows some fight and last the distance.
Aldana is a great boxer and we saw Peña frustrate Nunes before getting the win in their first matchup. If Aldana can avoid the wrestling, she can give Nunes some fits.
Let’s not forget, Aldana maybe a great boxer, but Nunes is pretty damn good on her feet herself. Not to mention she has a big advantage in the wrestling, grappling and ground game departments.
