American Top Team partners with World MMA Association
American Top Team (ATT) and World MMA Association (WMMAA), the largest MMA governing body organization in the world, have initiated a partnership including a USA National MMA team program, it was jointly announced this past Monday. The alliance will foster and redefine amateur platforms, both in the United States and around the world, with the best amateur national MMA teams.
“Our partnership with WMMAA forms a progressive bond with the most prominent MMA governing body,” said Shah Bobonis, of ATT. “The WMMAA Pan-American Division has developed a stable of great 100-percent amateur national fighters with eight male weight categories and two female categories on their international rosters and a strong team behind the scenes. With this partnership, the two organizations will build an MMA cultural bridge that the industry is sure to welcome.”
American Top Team will host a National Tryout to represent the inaugural USA National MMA Team in 2016.
“I’m really excited to join the partnership with American Top Team,” WMMAA Pan-American Division President Tomas Yu commented. “It is important for us to develop the missing links in the sport, by improving relationships with industry pioneers such as American Top Team. We would like to make this USA National Team program the first step to generate synergistic success for both organizations but, most importantly, for every aspiring MMA athlete.”
The WMMAA Pan-American Division will host its inaugural championship in Santiago, Chile this October 7-9, where the USA will make its first appearance in the history of the WMMAA. During the event there will be participation of 12 Pan-American countries and Grand Finale Pro Bouts hosted by Battle Brotherhood Championship. The event promises to be a great experience with the attendance of arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all-time, Fedor “Last Emperor” Emelianenko, and Chile President Michelle Bachelet. You can follow Team USA on FITE.TV.
WMMAA and Battle Brotherhood (BB) are partners in World Alliance, an international initiative to support and honor service members and their families. The initiative aims to educate, challenge, and spark action from all sectors of every society – citizens, communities, businesses, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, and government – to ensure military families have the support they have earned.
World Alliance is spearheaded by WMMAA vice president Tomas Yu, who also is WMMAA Pan-American president, and BB president Iskander Galiev, who have been leaders in supporting international combat military families and advocating for their priorities. World Alliance will address the unique challenges and needs of combat military families. Building on this groundwork, the initiative will focus on key priority areas like employment, education and wellness, while engaging in a comprehensive effort to raise awareness about the service, sacrifice, and needs of combat military families.
