Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will hold a press conference with the UFC today, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. EST.
Silva (33-6), who last fought in a rematch with current champion Chris Weidman will return to the octagon to fight Nick Diaz at UFC 183 next year.
In his last fight “the Spider” suffered a horendous leg break putting him out of action for what is now 10 months. It will be more than a year when he returns.
During the press conference Silva said that when the injury happened he thought his career was over and he faced months of depression.
He says now he can execute all of the moves he used to do. He’s able to ‘kick without fear’.
“By fight night I will be 100%”
“Everyone has picket signs telling me to stop. But they understand it is something I love.”
Diaz (26-9) has not fought since March 2013 when he challenged then welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre but lost unanimously on the judges’ scorecards.
UFC 183 takes place January 31, 2015 in Las Vegas.
Silva was asked about a potential future matchup with Weidman and said it will take time to get there but yes he is interested however he is not interested in a fight with his friend and training partner Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza.
