Promotional figurehead Chatri Sityodong took to his personal Facebook page to address this big-name signing for the company.
Chatri stated, “Please join me in welcoming Andre Galvao to ONE! A multiple-time World Champion, he is one of the greatest grapplers in history. His goal is to win world titles in both MMA and submission grappling in ONE. Who would you like to see Andre face first on the world’s largest stage of martial arts?”
Galvao has a deep resume with six ADCC world championships, six IBJJF world titles, four ADCC super-fight championships, and five black belt world titles to his credit.
Galvao was also tweeting about the news and simply stated “MMA” while tagging ONE Championship in the post.
Andre Galvao has a 5-2 MMA record overall but it has been over eleven years since he donned the small gloves.
Galvao last competed against eventual UFC welterweight world champion Tyron Woodley under the Strikeforce banner. Woodley finished Galvao via strikes in that October 2010 affair.
In addition to his Strikeforce experience, Galvao also competed with MMA rules instantiated while under the Dream banner. He has secured MMA victories via submission as well as via strikes.

Fellow jiu-jitsu savant Gordon Ryan is under ONE Championship contract with a similar deal. An agreement that allows for submission grappling and MMA competitive opportunities.
Ryan and Galvao also have a well-documented public beef with one another. Having been in a skirmish that was caught on tape whereby Ryan slapped Galvao after a middle finger was chucked up.
For them to test skills in the ONE Circle under mixed martial arts rules would make a great deal of sense.
