Andre Petroski confident he’s the better fighter as he meets Nick Maximov at UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs Rakic
Video interview with Andre Petroski above
UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs Rakic is taking place this Saturday, May 14th at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. There are several interesting fights on the card in both the men’s and women’s divisions. One that I have my eye on is a middleweight matchup of two rising studs in Andre Petroski (7-1) out of Daniel Gracie Philly/Marquez MMA and Nick Maximov (8-0), who trains out of the Nick Diaz Team in Stockton, California.
Maximov earned his contract on The Contender Series and has won his first two UFC fights via decision. Petroski has also won his first two UFC fights, both by way of third round stoppages. Petroski earned his contract after his appearance on TUF Season 28. He did not win the show but was impressive enough to catch the eyes of the brass and get his shot.
Covering the regional mixed martial arts in Pennsylvania and Delaware has allowed me to watch many fighters grow from an amateur competitor to regional pro, to next level pro and Petroski has been right in the middle of it for me as I have had the opportunity to call many of his previous fights from cage-side for Art of War Cage Fighting.
Petroski is a real student of the game and his grasp of the sport and desire to get better is evident. MyMMANews took a trip over to Marquez MMA in Northeast Philadelphia to check in with Petroski and see how this exciting match-up came about. He tells us…
“I watched his fight against Brundage, and Soriano and I say that I’m better than him in every area. I called my manager and told him that I wanted this fight and they got it done. It’s been a nice long camp and I’m just ready to go out there and get it done.”
Please check out our interview on the link above. Petroski also talks about John Marquez, who has done an amazing job with his team as they have won 13 straight fights in the UFC as he corners and trains Sean Brady, Patrick Sabatini, and Jeremiah Wells. Marquez has helped put #phillymma on the map.
MyMMANews will have plenty of pre-fight and post-fight coverage on UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs Rakic.
