Andrea Lee eyes ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus at UFC 247
Andrea Lee learned a lot in her most recent fight with Joanne Calderwood at UFC 242 and looks to use those lessons in her attempt to bounce back at UFC 247.
In a fight first reported by MyMMANews.com, “KGB” will face Lauren Murphy at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The women’s flyweight bout will take place during the preliminary card on ESPN prior to the pay-per-view main card.
Lee recently spoke to MyMMANews.com about fighting in Texas — where she grew up — what she took away from her decision loss to Calderwood, the heat in Abu Dhabi during the UFC 242 event, getting matched up with Murphy, wanting to prove she is a better fighter than she was two years ago, admitting that all of the talk about a title shot heading into the Calderwood fight may have gotten in her mind a bit too much, her annual calendar with Andy Nguyen and more.
In addition, Lee discusses how she is not only looking to get back in the win column, but also take home some extra bonus money when she squares off with Murphy Feb. 8.
“She likes to get in there and bang,” Lee told MyMMANews.com. “I think it’s gonna be exciting. In my last fight with Joanne Calderwood, I really would like to get that one again because she is an exciting fighter and I want to be able to strike. I wasn’t able to utilize that as much in that fight because I kept on wanting to clinch and kept on doing stupid stuff. In this fight, I looking forward to taking advantage of the striking aspect. I want it to be a fun, exciting fight. I want to go in there and get my hand raised, I want to get a finish, but I would also love to get a ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. I want to go in there and be exciting for everybody.”
