Andy Wang to compete in Rebel welterweight title tournament in China

Rebel Group, Inc. announced that the company plans to host a grand Mixed Martial Arts tournament named “QUEST FOR GLORY” on August 12, 2017 at the posh Kerry Hotel in Shanghai, China.

Mr. Justin Leong, Chief Executive Officer of Rebel stated, “It is our third time hosting a mixed martial arts event in China after the “THE PROMISED ONES” and “BATTLE ROYALE: ASCENSION” we hosted in 2015 and 2016 respectively in Qingdao. We are committed to bringing engaging and exciting MMA entertainment to audiences in China. For the upcoming “QUEST FOR GLORY” event, we plan to invite world-class contestants from China, America, Japan, Pakistan and Brazil. We expect that the distinctive tournament will prove to be an amazing experience for worldwide fans.”

We are thoroughly excited to see how this tournament plays out as MMA event innovators. We look forward to seeking more talented Chinese MMA athletes and bringing them to the world stage.”

The contestants for “BATTLE ROYALE: QUEST FOR GLORY” are as follows:

Welterweight (77kg) Championship Semi-Finals*

Interim Featherweight (66kg) Title Fight

  1. Rodolfo Marques Diniz VS Nagakura Tatsunao

Special Fight (Bantamweight (61kg) — Pakistan VS China

  1. Niu Kang Kang VS Uloomi Karim

*Winner goes into Grand Final, which will be held on August 12, 2017.

Aside from the headlined fights mentioned above, there will be four more world-class fights. Details of these fights will be available at a later date.

Wang (7-8-1-1) may best be remembered for his time on the Ultimate Fighter Season 5.  Wang was coached by B.J. Penn during the season but received a lot of criticism for not using his jiu-jitsu on the show despite hold a BJJ black belt.
