Hill vs Gadelha, Gadelha vs Hill

Angela Hill vs Claudia Gadelha Goes May 16th

Angela Hill vs Claudia Gadelha is the latest bout announced from UFC. The two strawweights are set to scrap at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. This is the venue that is to be the location for all of the organization’s scheduled cards this month. Full lineups for the promotion’s May 13th and May 16th cards were announced on Friday. Dana White unveiled these new prizefights in an interview with ESPN earlier today. The prelims air on ESPN+ with the main cards going live on ESPN.

The May 16th card had a main event announced (Walt Harris vs Alistair Overeem). But the co-main was up in the air. Hill vs Gadelha now assumes that co-main event spot that was previously vacant. Ultimate Fighting Championship has been announcing a ton of announcements as of late and compound that further with today’s big batch of bout announcements.

Hill vs Gadelha

Claudia Gadelha is the #6 ranked strawweight and #15 on the women’s pound for pound list (per UFC’s rankings). The Brazilian 115 lb-er rebounded from a late 2018 unanimous decision loss to Nina Ansaroff. Gadelha last defeated Randa Markos via unanimous decision at UFC 239 to return to the win column. Claudinha is looking to put together back to back wins and ascend further in the UFC’s strawweight hierarchy.

Angela Hill is presently unranked in the strawweight top 15. But she is presently on one of the best runs of her career. After a unanimous decision loss to Xiaonan Yan at UFC 238, Overkill is riding a three-fight win streak. Hill garnered victories over Loma Lookboonmee, Hannah Cifers, Ariane Carnelossi with stoppage wins in the first two of those outings. The Invicta FC strawweight champion is currently enjoying the longest unbeaten streak she has ever had in The Octagon. Should Hill defeat the former UFC title challenger, perhaps she can finally position herself to secure UFC gold afterward.
