Angela Lee wants to be first dual-division women’s champion in One Championship
“Unstoppable” Angela Lee has achieved incredible achievements in the sport of mixed martial arts and at such an incredibly young age. The 21-year old ONE Championships atomweight champion is currently undefeated as a pro, holding a perfect 8-0 record.
Several days ago the champion was answering questions from fans on social media in support of International Women’s Day when she was asked if she would move up and challenge for the strawweight title.
“Yes, that is definitely the plan,” Lee said.

If successful, Lee would be the first female in a major MMA organization to hold two title simultaneously.
The youngster was supposed to defend her atomweight title against Mei Yamaguchi in November 2017 but the fight was postponed when Lee was injured in a car accident in Hawaii.
Lee and Yamaguchi fought once before for the inaugural title and it was Lee who earned the gold with a unanimous decision victory in May 2016. With the win, Lee became the youngest fighter to win a major world MMA title. The fight was nominated for and won the “Best Fight of the Year 2016” under the ONE Championship banner.
“Unstoppable” Lee then finished both opponents in her next two fights and will likely be the favorite headed into the rematch with Yamaguchi according to MMA betting sites. The fight is set for May 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Lee earned her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt just last month. In 2011, Lee won her division at the USA Amateur pankration national championships, and she followed that the next year by winning her division at the World Pangration Athlima Federation world championships in Greece. She is currently ranked the number 30 active female strawweight competitor in the world by Tapology.
Xiong Jingman is the current ONE Championship women’s strawweight champion after she defeated Tiffany Teo for the inaugural title in that division in January. If the matchup with Lee came together it would likely be towards the end of calendar year 2018.
