Anissa Meksen and Jackie Buntan on ONE: Empower Super Series bouts
ONE: Empower goes down on Friday, September 3rd, and emanates from Singapore Indoor Stadium. The broadcast transpires on the ONE Super App and the ONE Championship Youtube channel depending on your local listing.
While this card is predominantly filled with mixed martial arts action, there are a pair of ONE Super Series bouts to look forward to. A kickboxing contest and a Muay Thai affair to keep fans of the standup arts fired up.
Anissa Meksen and Jackie Buntan
Anissa Meksen is a multiple-time kickboxing champion who readies to make her first foray into the ONE Circle as she goes up against Cristina Morales.
Also, Jackie Buntan looks to keep building on her momentum as she clashes with Daniela Lopez in a Muay Thai bout.
Excerpts from my recent media day interactions with both Meksen and Buntan are below.

Such a decorated resume with titles in Glory, K1, etc.
How important would it be to embark on a path to capturing a title within ONE Championship? Would that be a real capstone to the overall legacy?
“It’s extremely important for me. I get a title in Thai Boxing and others. This is my focus. I really want to have this one. And I’m going to do everything I can to get it.”

Working w/ K1 flyweight champ Kana Morimoto and ONE atomweight kickboxing champ Janet Todd
“Yeah I mean, I feel like it’s the true definition of iron sharpens iron. She messaged Janet maybe a month, a little more than a month ago that she’s coming to LA to train. My fight wasn’t for sure booked at the time. Probably not until a week she came in. So it was just perfect timing to have her around for my training camp. Training with her has opened my eyes to the different style that she has. There was a whole learning off of each other type of thing. So I’m really grateful for her time at Boxing Works.”
