Anthony Smith to headline UFC Lincoln against Glover Teixeira
Anthony Smith will once again headline a main event for the UFC, but this time he’ll do it in his home state of Nebraska.
The UFC announced today that Smith will take on UFC veteran Glover Teixeira when the promotion heads back the Cornhusker state on April 25. The UFC Lincoln event will take place in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Both men have fought Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship and have come up short. Right now, they are both ranked in the top 10 of the division with Smith ranked third and Teixeira ranked ninth.
Smith (32-14), 31, of Omaha, Nebraska, last fought in June of 2019 when he defeated Alexander Gustafsson by a fourth-round submission. Smith is 4-1 since moving to light heavyweight in 2018. His lone loss was to Jones at UFC 235.
Teixeira (30-7), 40, was perfect in 2019 winning all three of his fights. This is the third time that Brazilian has went on a UFC winning streak of at least three wins since joining the UFC in 2012.
