Anton Zafir vs. Theo Christakos for the AFC Welterweight Title in Perth

On Saturday 17 March, the Australian Fighting Championship will venture to Perth, Western Australia, for the very first time and showcase a mixed martial arts card stacked with domestic talent headlined by a Welterweight Title Fight between UFC veteran Anton Zafir and perennial Welterweight standout Theo Christakos.

Anton and Theo stamped their tickets to this huge title fight back at AFC 20 when they were victorious in the Welterweight Tournament bracket fights against Hoshi Friedrich and Abdullah Abou Hamdan respectively. On that night, Anton ground ‘n’ pounded his way to a dominant first round victory over a game Hoshi and Theo stopped Abdullah after demonstrating a striking master class. Now these two mixed martial arts warriors will meet with the coveted AFC Welterweight Strap on the line in Perth.

This will be the first of 4 trips the AFC will make to Perth in 2018, with return dates set for 9 June, 29 September and 4 December. The Perth events will be accompanied by a number of co-promoted AFC and KLF Kunlun Fight events in Melbourne with the first taking place in May; the rest of the Melbourne dates will be released in the coming days.

After a successful year last year which included an international fight card in Xian China, and a ground breaking partnership with KLF Kunlun Fight, the AFC will continues to grow in leaps and bounds and in 2018 will again prove why it is considered one of the premier promotions in Australasia.

The full AFC Perth card will be released this week; tickets will be on sale on Friday.
