Arman Tsarukyan, UFC Vegas 75

Arman Tsarukyan survives being wobbled, stops Joaquim Silva with heavy ground-and-pound at UFC Vegas 75

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us tonight, June 17, 2023, for UFC on ESPN 47, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a middleweight encounter between a pair of former title challengers in no. 3 ranked Marvin Vettori (19-6-1) and no. 4 ranked Jared Cannonier (16-6).

Co-headlining the event was a lightweight bout between Armenia’s no. 8 ranked Arman Tsarukyan (20-3) and Brazil’s Joaquim Silva (12-4). Tsarukyan came into the bout off a win over Damir Ismagulov (UD) last December, while Silva most recently defeated Jesse Ronson (TKO) in October.

Official Result: Arman Tsarukyan def. Joaquim Silva via TKO (punches) at 3:25 of round three

Tsarukyan dominates the entirety of the first round with his wrestling, securing an early takedown and remaining on top for over four minutes that he spent both in Silva’s guard, as well as on his back.

Tsarukyan looks good in the second as well, beating Silva up on the feet with his tenacious pace and kickboxing.

Silva catches Tsarukyan with a nasty left hook however with about two minutes left in the middle stretch, wobbling him badly. It looked like we were about to witness a massive upset, but Tsarykuan ends up securing a double leg takedown immediately following and saves himself, remaining on top until the buzzer sounds.

Tsarukyan takes Silva down once again in the third and final round, and this time he went to work and beat Silva down from top position. After long enough of an assault took place, the referee was forced to stop the action.

Arman Tsarukyan is still only 26 years old, it’s hard to imagine how good he’ll be at 30.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
