Arnold Allen reacts after losing to Max Holloway at Kansas City: “I got half my pay, I lost my winning streak, I missed out on a title shot”

Arnold Allen reacted after losing to Max Holloway at Kansas City, saying that “I got half my pay, I lost my winning streak, I missed out on a title shot.”

Allen lost a competitive decision in the main event of UFC Kansas City in what was the biggest fight of his MMA career to date. Given that Allen had won all 10 of his UFC fights heading into the Holloway bout, fans, and media already knew that he was a good fighter. But by going five rounds with Holloway and fighting tooth and nail for the 25 minutes, Allen proved to the MMA community that he is an elite fighter and one of the best in his division.

But while the fans and media have been nothing but complimentary toward Allen’s performance, the Brit is hard on himself for his performance. Speaking to MMAFighting.com’s The MMA Hour in a recent interview, Allen said that he takes away no moral victory, given that he lost out on other things by suffering the defeat to Holloway.

“There’s no victory. I got half my pay, I lost my winning streak, I missed out on a title shot. There’s no moral victory,” Allen said.

As far as Allen goes, although his performance wasn’t nearly as bad as he originally thought, the fact he suffered his first UFC loss in a fight that he thought he could win doesn’t make things any more easier on himself.

“It wasn’t as bad as I thought. I didn’t feel like the winner after and I don’t now but it’s not as bad as I thought. A lot of people said I should be proud ‘oh he did five rounds and pushed the pace on Max.’ I’m not proud of myself. I expect a lot more from myself. He is who he is and he’s one of the best if not the best guy in the division of all time. He’s going to be a Hall of Famer, he’s great but that doesn’t make me feel any better because I expect more out of myself. It’s a little more frustrating because I know I could have done better. I should have done better,” Allen said.

What do you think is next for Arnold Allen after losing by decision to Max Holloway at UFC Kansas City?
