Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson scrapped from UFC Vegas 32
The co-main event for this Saturday’s UFC Vegas 32 card has been scrapped due to injury as Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson is now off the card.
The UFC announced on Thursday night that, due to injury, Ladd vs. Chiasson will no longer take place on Saturday night. The Schmo later added that Chiasson is the one who was forced to withdraw at the last minute due to an injury, though it’s unknown at this point if Ladd will remain on the card. Given that the weigh-ins for the event are less than 24 hours away, it seems extremely unlikely that there will be anyone that is available to step up on such short notice and take on one of the division’s top contenders in Ladd.
For Ladd, losing her fight after such a long time off is certainly a big disappointment. Ladd is the No. 3 ranked women’s bantamweight in the UFC but she hasn’t fought since a TKO win over Yana Kunitskaya in December 2019. Not long after that win, Ladd tore her ACL and MCL and was forced to withdraw from a fight against Sara McMann in June 2020. Ladd has been out of action for the past year as she heals up from her injury and looks to get back into form as she plans on making a run for the top of the division.
For Chiasson, it certainly has to be disappointing for her to withdraw from this fight at UFC Vegas 32 against Ladd at the last second, particularly as it was such a prime opportunity for the No. 10 ranked women’s bantamweight to beat someone in the top-five. Instead, Chiasson will now have to hope that the UFC is able to re-book this fight so she gets the chance to fight Aspen Ladd. Depending on the severity of the injury, though, it could be a while before we see Chiasson back in action.
