AT McCowin smiling as he faces UFC vet for ROC Gold
Video interview with AT McCowin below
AT McCowin has an excellent opportunity to put himself in position to have his name in the conversation of the next regional fighters to make it to the UFC. On March 3rd, in Atlantic City, NJ, McCowin (5-3) will battle for the Ring of Combat Middleweight title as he faces ROC alum and UFC vet George “the Silencer” Sullivan.
Opponent: a pillar in the community
Sullivan (18-8) has been a mainstay in the MMA community since he began his fighting career in 2006. George has gone on to have a successful career in the cage and wisely invested in his own school and other business opportunities. George is a great role model for young mixed martial artists. The 41-year-old is always preaching to the youth to expand their thoughts and ideas beyond the cage. The guy cares about his fellow fighters.
Great opportunity
A victory over Sullivan, who has said this is his retirement fight win or lose, would be gigantic for McCowin. He gets the spotlight at ROC 79 in the co-main event and a big name in the sport, and for the belt. Trust me, A.T. is not feeling any pressure. MyMMANews reached out to McCowin to ask him about his championship fight and why he is always smiling. He tells us…
“I actually enjoy fighting. It’s that warrior spirit, that human conflict for those couple moments. We’re both people. We’re both here to do a job. So it’s right back to smiles and having a good time.”

McCowin had won four fights in a row before a narrow split decision loss to the dangerous Troy Green at ROC 77. His team at 302 BJJ and MMA out of Delaware will surely have a well devised game plan and it will be up to McCowin to execute it. His coaches Earl “Trouble” Small and Larry Edwards are very good at what they do and put in tons of work to help their guys. That dedication extends beyond the gym as Edwards has been pivotal in his life with much more than fighting. Tune in to see A.T. talk about it.
I will be cage-side on commentary with “Raging” Al Iaquinta and handling some post-fight interviews. Stay right here at MyMMANews for a full recap and results. We cover regional combat sports like no others. If you can’t make it to Atlantic City, you can stream the entire event for free by downloading Airy.TV.
