Augusto Sakai no longer under UFC contract
August Sakai, 31, is no longer under UFC contract. Twitter user UFC Roster Watch first reported Sakai’s removal from the UFC database on Thursday.

Sakai, a professional mixed martial artist with a 16-5-1 record, is coming off a win at Don’Tale Mayes at UFC Vegas 70 on February 25. The victory was a first for the Brazilian fighter since May 2020 when he defeated Blagoy Ivanov by way of split decision.
He then went on a four-fight losing streak including losses to Alistair Overeem, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Tai Tuivasa, and Serghei Spivac.
The fight against Mayes as the last UFC bout on Sakai’s contract with the promotion. UFC officials opted not to resign him.
