Aung La N Sang Says De Ridder vs. Bigdash is a “toss up”
With ONE 159 set for June 22, Reinier De Ridder looks to defend his title against Vitaly Bigdash. The bout pits two different style of grapplers against each other. With former champion Aung La N Sang sharing the cage with each one more than one occasion, he took to ONE Championship to weigh in on the fight. “It’s going to be a good fight. They’re both very good competitors.
Aung La N Sang on De Ridder vs. Bigdash
The martial arts fan in Aung La N Sang is excited for De Ridder and Bigdash to face off. His familiarity with both has him looking forward to see which fighter can reign supreme on the night.
“I’m excited for it, and I’m very familiar with both of them. I’ve spent, what, one to two hours [competing] with them? It’s an exciting matchup for me, and I’m really looking forward to who’s going to win that one.”
Despite all that ring time with both, La N Sang cannot pick a winner. He knows just how good both are and where their strengths and weaknesses lie.
“This is a very, very close fight. I can’t really [give a prediction]. It’s a coin toss because if RDR is on point, and if he’s able to close the distance real quick and get on top, I don’t think Bigdash would be able to fight him off because he will stick to him like glue.”
But he doesn’t want it to seem like he’s on De Ridder’s side. La N Sang says that he also sees a path to victory for Bigdash as well.
“And vice-versa, if Bigdash is on top, I don’t see RDR sweeping him or submitting him from the bottom. It really depends on who’s able to impose their game plan.”
So who is better where and what is the key to victory? Aung La N Sang says, “I give a striking edge to Bigdash, for sure, and the grappling edge to Reinier. so it really depends on who’s able to better use the takedowns.”
