The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, August 6, 2022, for UFC Vegas 59, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a pair of ranked light-heavyweight contenders in former title challenger Thiago Santos (no. 6) and Jamahal Hill (no. 10), and is co-headlined by another pair of ranked contenders, this bout coming in the welterweight division between Vicente Luque (no. 6) and Geoff Neal (no. 13).

Following back-to-back submission finishes in our first two fights tonight, coming in the women’s bantamweight & strawweight divisions, The Ultimate Fighter 28 winner Bryan Battle faced off with veteran Takashi Sato in the third preliminary bout of the evening.

Battle has gone 2-0 thus far into his UFC career, while Sato, following an initial 2-1 run into his tenure with the promotion, he has since lost his last two-straight.

Official Result: Bryan Battle def. Takashi Sato via KO (head kick) at :44 of round one

Sato meets Battle in the center of the octagon and begins to press the action, throwing some nice kicks, as well as crosses to the body of Battle. Once it looks like he might have found his range early, Battle unleashes a head kick from hell and KO’s Sato on the spot.

Bryan Battle secured The Ultimate Fighter trophy via submission (rear naked choke) nearly one year ago in late August of 2021, he followed it up with a unanimous decision victory earlier this year in February, and tonight he makes it three-straight inside the octagon at UFC Vegas 59.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
