Bellator 206 results – Gegard Mousasi vs. Rory MacDonald
Bellator MMA holds Bellator 206 tonight from the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
The night’s preliminary card streams on the promotion’s website beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The six-fight main card streams live on DAZN at 10 p.m. ET. Unfortunately for fans in the United Kingdom, the broadcast event which was televised on Channel 5 had cut out just before the main event and MMA fans were treated to an episode of the children’s cartoon ‘Peppa Pig.’
In the main event, Bellator MMA middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi put his title on the line against welterweight title holder, Rory MacDonald. The two former UFC fighters collided in a champion vs. champion superfight for the 185-pound belt. Mousasi retains, TKO’ing the challenger in the second round.
A pair of common foes fought for a fourth time as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson takes on Wanderlei Silva. Having fought twice in Pride Fighting Championships and once in the UFC, the two mixed martial arts legends looked to settle the score at heavyweight. And settle he did. Jackson finishes the fight in the second round.
Also, the opening bout in the Bellator MMA welterweight grand prix kicked off in a fight between Douglas Lima and Andrey Koreshkov. What a war between two former champions and amazing fighters. Lima gets the submission win in the fifth and final round.
Aaron Pico continues to shine as he recorded yet another first round finish. Who will the wrestling standout face next?
Arlene Blencowe defeated Amber Leibrock with a beautiful slam while defending an armbar. She followed up punches before the referee called an end to the fight.
