Bellator 219 results – Awad vs. Girtz

Bellator 219: Awad vs. Girtz will be broadcast on Paramount Network at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT and will stream LIVE on DAZN, while preliminary and post-lim bouts will stream on Bellator.com and globally on the Bellator Mobile App.

The main event was a lightweight matchup between hart-hitters Saad Awad and Brandon Girtz.

In the first fight of the night, Cody Vidal’s knee appeared to give way and the fight was called off due to injury in his fight against Darren Costa.

Joey Davis gets a big first round win over Marcus Anthony.  The victory comes by way of technical knockout.

Kickboxing legend Joe Schilling battered and bloodied Keith Berry en route to a unanimous decision win in the first bout on Paramount Network.

Former Bellator MMA welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov outworked organizational newcomer Mike Jasper to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Former two-time Bellator MMA featherweight champion Daniel Straus returned to action for the first time since a horrific motorcycle accident that left him partially paralyzed in December 2017.  The fighter battled through the injury, learned how to walk again, and was able to compete and win just months after the life-changing incident.  He defeated Shane Kruchten in the night’s co-main event.

What an absolutely crazy start to the main event between Saad Awad and Brandon Girtz. These two threw everything they had at one another, both men getting hurt and stunned in the process but managing to find a way to carry on and make it into the second frame.  It wasn’t just the first round that brought the action. All 15-minutes of the fight was non-stop action.  This fight could be written in as a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate.  Girtz wins by way of unanimous decision.
