Bellator 239: Ruth-Amosov, Girtz-Jury To Headline
Bellator’s 2020 debut has found it’s main and comain event for Bellator 239. The fight card takes place on Friday, February 21st and will take place at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Headlining the card will be a welterweight showdown between former Penn State NCAA wrestling national champion, Ed Ruth. Ruth has started his career at 8-1. He will take on Yaroslav Amosov who is an undefeated Ukrainian prospect. Amosov has the experience edge in the bout sitting at 22-0 for his career.
In the Co-main event, Bellator veteran, Brandon Girtz takes on Myles Jury. The two lightweights are some of the best on the Bellator roster.
Setting up Bellator 239
Coming into Bellator 239, Ed Ruth is coming off a tough win over Jason Jackson at Bellator 231. Ruth has fought nine times in the Bellator cage and looks to notch his ninth win with the promotion. Being a three time NCAA D1 national champion, Ruth is one of the hottest prospects in the game.
Amosov is making his fourth trip to the cage under Bellator. He has notched wins against Erick Silva, Gerald Harris, and Dave Rickels since joining the promotion. Now with his eyes on a title shot, Amosov has to go through Ruth to get to the newly crowned champion, Douglas Lima.
In the co-main, Brandon Girtz has been in the fight game for 11 years. His last win came over Saad Awad, an amazing fight earlier this year. In addition to Awad, Girtz has notched wins over Melvin Guillard, and Derek Campos.
Myles Jury, the former UFC prospect, lost his Bellator debut to Benson Henderson in a razor close fight. Jury has had wins over Diego Sanchez, Michael Johnson and Takanori Gomi. New to Bellator, Jury is looking to get back in the win column and climb his way up the stacked lightweight division.
Bellator 239 may have it’s main and co-main event and will add a great cast of fights around them to make a banger of a card. Stay tuned to My MMA News for all the news surrounding the card.
