Bellator cuts Phil Baroni, NY BadAss says ‘support for War Machine’ is the cause, officials take opposite stance
Bellator MMA has officially cut ties with the New York BadAss, Phil Baroni.
Baroni (15-18) has lost three straight fights, most recently to Karo Parisyan on July 25.
When Baroni received his walking papers he went to Twitter to state “I just got cut from Belator (spelling) because of War.”
Baroni has been an avid supporter of friend, Jon Koppenhaver also known as War Machine, who was recently taken into police custody and charged with multiple violations to include the assault of adult film star Christy Mack.
Anthony Mazzuca, Bellator’s Director of Communications states that Baroni’s reasoning varies from the organization’s official stance.
“Not true at all. Phil has a great following and has been in the sport for a long time, but with Bellator moving to 15-16 shows in 2015, the roster needs to be scaled back accordingly.”
Baroni has since deleted the tweet but it can be still shown in this photo. Although he did delete that tweet he put up another “Back 2 being a Road Warrior No Mercy, No Fear, No Doubt.”
