Ben Askren Announces Book Release

Olympic wrestler and former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight Champion Ben Askren announced on his social media today that he will be releasing his very own book later this year.

 

Through the years, Askren has been on quite the journey in the world of wrestling and MMA.

Not only is he a member of the Wisconsin Wrestling Hall of Fame, but during his wrestling career, he was a two-time NCAA national champion, three-time Big 12 conference champion, Pan-American champion, and a member of the 2008 Olympic team. 

Following his wrestling career, Askren transitioned into MMA. In 2010, he defeated Don Hornbuckle for the Bellator welterweight championship. He would go on to become the ONE Championship welterweight champion in 2016 after defeating Nikolay Aleksakhin. 

He made his long-awaited move to the UFC in 2019 where he went 1-2 before ultimately deciding to retire that same year. 

Coming out of retirement just two years later, Askren competed in a boxing match in 2021 against Jake Paul, where he suffered a loss TKO in the first round. 

Now, happily retired from combat sports he has been working on a book about his journey. 

The book titled “Funky: My Defiant Path Through the Wild World of Combat Sports” focuses on just that. His incredible journey through the years. 

The book is to be published by Permuted Press and distributed through Simon & Schuster.

The official release date is October 18th, 2022 but you can pre-order the book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Bookshop, Indie Bound, and Simon & Schuster.
