Beneil Dariush and Diego Ferreira will rematch at UFC’s Feb. 6 card
Beneil Dariush and Diego Ferreira will run it back in a rematch booked for the UFC’s Super Bowl Saturday event on Feb. 6. ESPN was first to report the news of the lightweight bout.
Dariush (19-4-1) and Ferreira (17-2) previously fought over six years ago at UFC 179 in October 2014 in which Dariush got the victory by unanimous decision.
Since their fight, both fighters have heated up.
Dariush has posted a 10-3-1 record since their first meeting and he has looked amazing as of late. He has won his last five outings and he’s won four of those by stoppage. Dariush is known for highlight reel knockouts and he added another one of them to the reel in August when he knocked out Scott Holtzman with a spinning backfist.
Meanwhile, Ferreira lost his very next fight in April of 2015 to Dustin Poirier. After dropping those two fights, he hasn’t lost since as he’s won six in a row. He picked up the biggest win of his career in his last fight at UFC 246 in January when he submitted former champion Anthony Pettis.
Over the summer, Dariush talked to MyMMANews in an interview in which he discussed Ferreira calling him out and how he was open to fighting him. He also spoke about his missionary work in Haiti.
