Benson Henderson to fill in against Jorge Masvidal

Although he just lost a controversial decision to late replacement Donald Cerrone at UFC Boston this past Sunday, former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Benson Henderson already has his next fight scheduled.

Sidelined due to a torn quad, lightweight contender Bobby Green has been pulled from his April 4 matchup with Jorge Masvidal for their fight in Fairfax, Virginia

‘Smooth’ Henderson has agreed to step in for the UFC Fight Night co-main event bout.

Tickets for UFC Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas go on sale on February 11.

On one of the hottest streaks in the lightweight division, Masvidal has won three straight, defeating Pat Healy, Daron Cruickshank and James Krause. A win over Henderson would certainly propel him up the 155-pound rankings, but after a controversial decision loss to Donald Cerrone last Sunday in Boston, “Smooth” will be pulling out all the stops to put an end to Masvidal’s win streak.

Before the loss to Cerrone, Henderson also suffered a KO loss to Rafael dos Anjos.
