BJ Penn to headline UFC Fight Night 103, Yair Rodriguez slated as opponent
BJ Penn will once again make an attempt to return to the UFC as he is now scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 103, January 15 at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. The man opposite the UFC Hall of Famer will be Yair Rodriguez.
Penn announced his return to mixed martial arts early in 2016 and had made several attempts to return but was pull from fight card for various reasons to include then pending legal battles and then later again after he self-disclosed taking an IV for rehydration out of competition.
In his most recent attempt Penn was scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 97 in October against Ricardo Lamas, but pulled out due to injury. The entire fight card was cancelled thereafter.
Rodriguez has won six straight fights and has bonuses in three of his past four. At UFC 180, he won “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” featherweight crown.
With the addition to the lineup, UFC Fight Night 103 now includes:
