BKFC 51’s Britain Hart “I See Myself (in Melanie Shah)”
Britain Hart defends her strawweight crown against Melanie Shah at BKFC 51 on September 29th.
Hart appeared on episode four of Bare Knuckle Radio to touch on having another massive championship fight in Virginia, going from sleeping out of her car years ago to being a defending titleholder, and so much more. Excerpts from the chat are below.

It seemed like the last fight was very focused on the rivalry component. The operative wording you used was the bad blood’s 20 times worse with Jenny Savage leading into that rematch from the first fight with her.
Is there a clearer mind in a competitive context for this next one at BKFC 51 because the dynamic with Shah is not vitriolic and personal?
“No, yeah you’re right and I kind of forget about that big time. But yes, that does make sense, that’s probably why I was so angry too. I hate Jenny Savage, I can’t stand her. She ruined that whole fight for me as well. Just with her stupid mouth and so when I got there it was kind of like, I’m not going to entertain this. It made the fight really; it made the fight distasteful in how she was acting and behaving.”

“Yeah, she said that it was a lot of bull****. You’re right I forgot about that. So, Melanie super respect, what a great sportsmanship you know. What a great female, what a great athlete, she’s gone in there. I have so much respect for her. She did it in the right way, you know. I’ve watched all her fights and I really like her as a person. To me, it shows the hungriness. I can see; I look at her and I see myself at least bits and pieces. It’s like damn, I love sharing the ring with people like that. They deserve it.”

“That girl (Melanie Shah), she deserves a main event spot. Honestly funny enough, I was supposed to get the main event when I was in Norfolk, and I told them don’t dare make me the main event. You make Reggie the main event. Because I don’t want that ***** Jenny Savage to be the main event. So, they were like wow really? I was like yeah, ‘I don’t want that girl to ever say that she got a main event spot. **** her, so.’ I actually swear to God, no, I have text messages and everything.”

Britain Hart continued, “I said, ‘hey you guys just make me the co-main event, please.’ So Melanie, she deserves the main event, 100%. She’s a fighter, she’s tough, you know. She gets up when she gets knocked down. My only like I guess chip on my shoulder thing that I could even say is that I just hope she makes weight. I’m worried about that but if not you know whatever. Like I said I’ll fight Godzilla but I do hope she makes weight (laughs).”
