Bo Nickal to return September 27th on Contender Series

Fresh off a monster win over Zachary Borrego in Dana White’s Contender Series, Penn State alumni Bo Nickal is wasting no time at getting back in the cage and will return to the cage on September 27th. He announced the fight on his Twitter today. He will be taking on CFFC champion Donovan Beard who is 7-1 as a pro.

Nickal is the premier MMA prospect right now and his win got him a “development deal” with the UFC. That’s just code word for Nickal being already locked down and headed to the UFC with a few more wins.

His opponent is a big step up from Borrego who was his first Contender Series opponent. Beard is one of the top middleweight prospects in the southeast and has several submissions on the record. It will be interesting to see how Nickal deals with that. That said, he did suplex Gordon Ryan multiple times, although Ryan backed into it. Ryan submitted him later, as expected, but it’s safe to say Brown is no Gordon Ryan.

Bo Nickal: The Next Big Thing?

With all this hype on Bo Nickal, one will wonder which route he will take. He could make an incredibly fast run at the title at 185 which is a relatively weak division with tons of fighters who would likely fold under his wrestling pedigree. Or he could take his time and take the Sean O’Malley route by taking several unranked fights to get more experience.

Whatever Nickal chooses, fans are in for a treat as the Penn State alumni is the real deal. He’s been nothing but fireworks in his two professional fights. He comes and brings a fun fight each time. Pay attention to Bo Nickal. He’s absolutely one you will want to watch for going forward. Thanks for reading!
