Bourbon Street Brawl! BYB 28 to go down in New Orleans
Time to party! BYB Extreme has announced their upcoming BYB 28 fight card on July 13th will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana! The event will take place at the John A. Alario Event Center and will feature a heavyweight title bout as it’s main attraction with Ike Villanueva defending his title against Gustavo Trujillo!
Ike Villanueva returns at BYB 28
After making his transition to bare knuckle and making waves in his first two bare knuckle bouts, Houston’s Ike Villanueva challenged incumbent champion DJ Linderman at BYB 24 in Biloxi, Mississippi. There he nabbed the heavyweight title with a round four TKO and a close, action-packed fight.
Now Villanueva will return against Gustavo Trujillo, a 5-0 bare knuckle boxer with wins over Lorenzo Hunt, and Levi da Costa. All five of Trujillo’s wins have come by way of first round knockout.
Trujillo didn’t mince words when asked about his upcoming shot at the title. He said, “Anytime you’re given the opportunity to fight for a world title, you’re given the chance to prove that you’re the best in your division. This will be the first title of many to come, but really, it’s just another step to me claiming the most important title of all: When it’s all said and done, I will be pound-for-pound the greatest bare knuckle fighter of my time.”
“Hurricane” Ime Villanueva ain’t buying it. “Simply put, this is perhaps the biggest and baddest bare knuckle fight ever. And all I have to say is, ‘Welcome to the South. It’s Hurricane Season.’”
The announced co-main event will be a bout between former BYB Lightweight Champion Monica Medina and Helen Peralta.
As mentioned, BYB 28 takes place on June 13th in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tickets are available now and it’s a fantastic card with only two announced fights already. BYB Extreme puts on some of the best bare knuckle available and won’t be one to miss.
