Conor McGregor, billionaire

Conor McGregor on way to become MMA’s first billionaire

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor more than likely will be the first billionaire in professional mixed martial arts, barring any major superstar breaking barriers than even the “Mystic Mac” couldn’t achieve.

“I’m closing in on a billion now, I think I’m at about 650million all in I’ve made,” McGregor said. “I think [Forbes] estimate that, I’d have to probably do my own little check of that.
But I fancy my chances, I fancy my chances of getting up that list. It’s good to see, as you say that Forbes was a goal of mine to hit that, I got that and onwards we go.”

The 35-year-old “Mystic Mac” referenced his rise as one of the highest-paid fighters in combat sports, and the first MMA fighter to be named on the famed Forbes list.

McGregor revealed after his 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather that he had netted around $100 million (£80.3m) for his part in the crossover fight.

In the years since the ‘money fight’, as it became known, McGregor has diversified his income, and topped the Forbes highest-paid athletes list in 2021.

McGregor and his business partners sold their stake in Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey for a reported $600million (£481.9m) later that year.

The Irish fighter has forged a groundbreaking path inside and outside of the ring as an athlete and entrepreneur. After purchasing his now award-winning pub in 2020, The Black Forge Inn, McGregor began to develop a unique beer offering that featured a custom stout developed in partnership with a local Irish brewery.

Earlier this year McGregor proved to be a talent outside the cage once again as the film “Road House” because Amazon Prime’s top-grossing release of all time.

He is expected to face lightweight contender Michael Chandler in his return to competition at UFC 303 this summer.
