Boxing: Victor Ortiz vs Andre Berto II results
Tonight, in a long-awaited rematch of their 2011 Fight of the Year, Victor Ortiz (31-5-2) took on Andre Berto (30-4) in a clash between former 147-pound world champions. The Premier Boxing Champions bout took place at the Stubhub Center in Carson, California and aired live on FOX beginning at 8pm EST/5pm PST.
The first time the two men fought it was Ortiz that handed Berto his first professional loss and took his title via a unanimous decision. Since then, both men have fought and lost to a common opponent in Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather handed Ortiz his first loss since capturing Berto’s title. Ortiz would lose two more in a row to gain three consecutive losses. He then bounced back with two more wins. Berto on the other hand was coming off a loss to Mayweather in September and is eager to get back in the win column.
Although he was knocked down at the end of the second round by Ortiz, Berto was able to bounce back and secure a fourth round TKO victory to extract his revenge.
Also, Edwin Rodriguez (28-1) took on Thomas Williams Jr. (19-1) in a scheduled 10-round clash of hard-hitting 175-pound contenders.
Jorge Lara made extremely quick work of Fernando Montiel, knocking him out little more than 90 seconds into the first round.
