Video: BROADENED HORIZIN Episode 12: Takanori Gomi, Seika Izawa, Si Woo Park, and Damien Brown

This is BROADENED HORIZIN. The MMA podcast show hosted by Drake Riggs where we chat with your favorite Japanese and RIZIN superstars… in English!

It was only appropriate for the first episode of the New Year to bring on some of the big winners from RIZIN 33 which closed out 2021.

Perhaps none made as big of a splash as Deep Jewels strawweight champion Seika Izawa who stunned the legendary Ayaka Hamasaki. Finishing the RIZIN queen with strikes in round two, the 24-year old has treated it as just another win.

Lightweight competitor Damien Brown has been sidelined since the pandemic began but he’s remained present in the commentary booth. “Beatdown” is itching to get back in the ring in 2022 and wants to take out Bonsai Jiu-Jitsu’s Souza brothers – but he’s loving commentary duty at the same time.

A former opponent of Izawa’s, Si Woo Park, also scored a big upset win when taking on Rena Kubota at RIZIN 33. The Korean striking sensation picked up a split decision win and has her first outing of 2022 scheduled for March 12 at Deep Jewels 36 opposite Aira Koga.

Last but far from least, “The Fireball Kid” Takanori Gomi joyously concluded the program.

Legendary for his run in PRIDE FC, Gomi has performed in nothing but action-packed encounters during his time in RIZIN… now he kind of wants to get into all the boxing fun overseas.

All that and more on BROADENED HORIZIN! Watch the full episode in the video above or you can listen on Spotify.
