Frankie Buenafuente defends Ring of Combat title for first time at ROC 56

Frankie Buenafuente went about his business with a very workman like effort to win the 145 lb championship for Ring of Combat in his last fight.

He will be defending his title vs Brooklyn MMA’s Nekruz Mirkhojaev on September 23rd in Atlantic City.

Frankie has been ascending with 5 straight victories. His wrestling base has been his go to style as his striking and submissions have improved steadily. Frankie trains at Carnicella MMA and is well aware of the fact that ROC founder and former world kick boxing champion, Louis Neglia, is one phone call away from sending yet another fighter onto the UFC.

It has to be one fight at a time and the “Mantis” knows he will have his hands full with the very powerful Mirkhojaev. I talked with the defending champ and got to see how he was feeling heading into the fight as he walks in as a champion for the first time, and his thoughts on his opponent.
