Cage Warriors 109 Adds Jai Herbert-Cain Carrizosa Main Event
Cage Warriors has found their main event for their Cage Warriors 109 card in Birmingham on October 26th. According to the Cage Warriors press release, the main event will feature Jai Herbert defending his lightweight belt against UFC veteran, Cain Carrizosa. The fight will serve as the main event for the card that takes place in the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England.
Jai Herbert is coming off of the capture of the vacant lightweight belt over Jack Grant at Cage Warriors 106 in June of this year. In the fight, Herbert knocked our Grant in the third round, capturing the vacant lightweight title. He steps out to make a giant statement with a win over a former UFC fighter in Carrizosa. Being his first title defense, Herbert is likely being watched by the UFC’s Dana White as a future prospect.
Cain Carrizosa suffered a three fight skid that saw him released from the UFC. Since then, he’s racked up five straight, including a stint in CFFC. Carrizosa looks to get back into the eyes of UFC brass as well. He could do that with a win in October at Cage Warriors 109. Winning the title and making it six straight wins would certainly help his case out tremendously. Even if he doesn’t get a direct call, holding the Cage Warriors belt always bodes well for a Fighters future to move on to the UFC.
